Canadian rock legend Randy Bachman will headline this year’s edition of Rock for Public Services atCanadian Tire Centre. This live event, which will offer free admission to all fans, is set for Saturday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be presented by CUPE Local 503 and CUPE Ontario to celebrate the efforts of municipal and health care workers in the City of Ottawa and the Ottawa-Gatineau area. While there is no admission charge, donations will kindly be accepted in support of the Royal Ottawa Foundation for Mental Health.
Often referred to as the “Architect of Canadian Rock n’ Roll,” Bachman has become a legendary figure through his talents as a guitarist, songwriter, performer and producer, and he has earned more than 120 gold and platinum album/singles awards over the course of his lengthy career. Bachman’s catalogue of anthemic hits includes Takin’ Care of Business, American Woman, These Eyes, Hey You and You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet. In 2005, Bachman’s career continued to diversify as he established himself as an engaging radio personality; Randy Bachman’s Vinyl Tap is an award-winning program on CBC and Sirius satellite radio heard by millions of people worldwide.
Toronto based indie rockers The Sadies will act as Bachman’s band for this special performance. Possessing a deep fondness and reverence for the best of CBGB (country, bluegrass and blues), The Sadies are equally informed and influenced by everything from 60’s garage and psychedelic rock to surf instrumentals and punk rock.
“It’s quite different when I play with The Sadies than when I play with anyone else,” Bachman said of the rare collaboration. “I love the stand-up bass, it gives an incredible gigantic bottom end sound. I think the two brothers, Dallas and Travis, are just amazing guitar players. They’ve got their own cool identity.”
