Ticket packages for 2014 CIS FINAL 8 Men’s Basketball Championship on sale Aug. 23
In conjunction with Carleton University, the University of Ottawa and Canadian Interuniversity Sport,Canadian Tire Centre announced today that tickets for the eighth annual MBNA Capital Hoops Classic, which will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 21, and the 2014 CIS Final 8 Men’s Basketball Championship (from March 7 to 9) will go on sale Friday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m.
The latest edition of the MBNA Capital Hoops Classic will once again feature two games: a women’s matchup between the Carleton Ravens and the Ottawa Gee-Gees at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s contest between the same schools at 8 p.m. The 2014 event marks the fourth of a six-year agreement between the schools and Canadian Tire Centre, which sees the venue continue to host the event through 2016. Tickets for the annual basketball event start at $10.
The MBNA Capital Hoops Classic, which continues to showcase some of the finest basketball players in the country, sets the stage for the 2014 CIS Final 8 Men’s Basketball Championship that will take place at Canadian Tire Centre in early March. The Ravens, who captured their third CIS title in as many years and became the first program in history to claim a ninth W.P. McGee Trophy in 2013, will once again serve as tournament hosts. Lower-level ticket packages start at $100 and include a ticket to each championship game.
Ahead of the Ravens upcoming season, Ottawa basketball fans will have the opportunity to see them face one of the top-ranked schools in the NCAA when they host the Syracuse Orange at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, at Canadian Tire Centre. The Orange reached the NCAA Final Four in 2013 and have established a strong reputation with the fifth best all-time record for wins (1,874 victories over 112 seasons) in Division I basketball and an active NCAA-record with 42 consecutive winning seasons.
