Atlantic recording artist Bruno Mars is proud to announce that he will be accompanied by an array of stellar support acts on selected dates of his Moonshine Jungle World Tour, including Aloe Blacc, Bebe Rexha and chart-topping Afro/Norwegian pop duo Nico & Vinz.
Representatives for Pharrell Williams confirm that the producer/songwriter will no longer appear as a special guest on the scheduled Canadian dates due to a personal conflict, which includes Mars’ July 24 show at Ottawa’s Canadian Tire Centre. International music sensation Nico & Vinz are scheduled to open the Moonshine Jungle Tour in Ottawa.
The blockbuster 155-date trek is currently lighting up arenas and amphitheaters across North America, with largely sold out shows continuing through mid-August. In addition, the GRAMMY®-winning singer/songwriter/producer performed two sold out shows at the World’s Most Famous Arena, New York City’s Madison Square Garden, on July 14 and 15. In other news, Mars has just received his first Emmy Award nomination, honoring last year’s historic Pepsi Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. FOX’s Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show Starring Bruno Mars was named in the Outstanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program category, alongside Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis: President Barack Obama, Children’s Hospital, Parks And Rec In Europe and The Soup: True Detective. What’s more, Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show Starring Bruno Mars also received an additional technical Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Special.
With total viewership of 115.3 million, Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show Starring Bruno Mars shattered previous records to become the most watched Super Bowl Halftime Show of all time, surpassing the 110.8 million delivered last year by Beyoncé as well as the prior record of 114.0 million set by Madonna in 2012. In addition to the record-breaking audience, Mars further made history by being the youngest artist to ever serve as the sole NFL Super Bowl Halftime headliner.
As if that weren’t enough, Mars and his awesome eight-piece band, The Hooligans, are set to continue their extended engagement at The Chelsea, the newest performance space at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, with sold out two-night stands scheduled for Aug. 22 and 23 and Oct. 17 and 18. Named Billboard magazine’s 2013 Artist of the Year, Mars is among the most extraordinary talents of this or any other era. With 130 million singles sold worldwide, the 18-time GRAMMY® Award nominee and winner has made music history more than once, including such milestones as scoring his first fiveBillboard Hot 100 chart-toppers faster than any male solo artist since Elvis Presley. In addition to his two acclaimed multi-platinum albums – 2010’s Doo-Wops & Hooligans and 2012’s Unorthodox Jukebox, of which share a combined certification total of 84x platinum worldwide – Mars has logged an extraordinary catalogue spanning 22 Hot 100 hits, marking his numerous gifts as singer, songwriter, musician and producer.
Furthermore, Mars has earned near unprecedented critical acclaim, with Billboard hailing his work as “boldly ambitious and gloriously irreverent.” “Bruno Mars is beginning to stake a claim as one of the most gifted songwriters of his generation,” declared GQ, while The Hollywood Reporter ranked him “among the best male vocalists that the music industry has to offer.” The New York Times summed it up: “(Bruno Mars) is the most formidable synthesizer of styles going in pop today.”
