In addition to the pre-tournament game and training camp, Hockey Canada has announced it will host a series of hockey development activities in the National Capital Region to coincide with the timing of the Sept. 10 match-up.
“There’s no question these players inspire the next generation of Canadian hockey fans to take up the game,” said Paul Carson, vice-president of membership development for Hockey Canada. “Our goal at Hockey Canada is to go beyond that by leveraging events such as this to showcase, at the grassroots level, how fun the sport is, and all of the affiliated benefits you gain from being a part of the game of hockey – leadership, teamwork, overcoming adversity, and a healthy, active lifestyle, to name just a few.”
Hockey Canada will be delivering programs to the Ottawa region that speak to everyone from families who are new to hockey, to active players and coaches at all levels, including high-performance coaching seminars. Registration will be required for all programs, with only some carrying a participation fee. Details on the exact programs, registration requirements and dates will be announced at a later date.
